Battery Life: 5 and 10 year battery configurations are available. Claims of 5 year battery life are often exaggerated. 10 year battery packs are unavailable.
Battery Type: Premium Lithium batteries are used in 10 year battery configurations. Compared to Alkaline batteries, they have greater shelf life, are less prone to leakage and deliver a more constant voltage. Alkaline batteries are used, but may not be included. Alkaline batteries have a shorter shelf life than Lithium batteries, and are prone to leakage. Using larger Alkaline batteries does not guarantee longer battery life.
Battery Protection: Schottky diode protected battery holders are used to guard against damage from defective batteries. No other company advertises this layer of protection against damage from defective batteries.
